Is East Edgewater The New SoFi Miami Beach? Here’s Our Take.

Word on the street is that East Edgewater is the next SoFi Miami Beach, and we’re not so sure about that. Yes, real estate is booming there, and there has been an increase in retail shops and trendy restaurants, and East Edgewater definitely has some potential, but as it stands, you really can’t compare the personality, charm, and appeal of SoFi with East Edgewater.

SoFi is a sexy, affluent, trendy part of Miami that is rich in culture and diversity. It has a unique feel about it, one that other parts of Miami try to duplicate, but just can’t seem to get it. It is a pedestrian-friendly area, and it is common to see locals running, skating, walking their dogs and biking down the palm tree-lined streets.

The close proximity to the beach makes it easy for residents to enjoy a picnic on their lunch hour, or spend the whole weekend enjoying the crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches of the coast. East Edgewater can feature as many trendy shops and brunch places as it wants, but it’ll never have such quick and easy access to the beach like the South of Fifth community.

Real estate in SoFi is in a category of its own, and with so many options to cater to so many different people, it is an obvious choice for people who want to blend the beach with art, music, good food and luxury living. A recent boom in East Edgewater real estate is what has everyone worried that it’s trying to steal SoFi’s thunder, but it will take a lot to compete with Sofi’s art deco style apartments, single family pool homes and luxurious high-rise condos on the water, everyone feels like they belong when they live in this tropical, easy going community.  Whether you are looking to rent or buy, you can find a property here that puts you smack in the middle of one of the most sought after neighborhoods in Miami.

South of Fifth is also home to some of the most architecturally stunning buildings in the world. World-renowned architects choose South of Fifth to debut incredible hotels like Glass and Apogee, creating a gorgeous skyline (and not to mention amazing places for brunch!) Last time we checked, famous architects weren’t flocking to East Edgewater to show off their skills.

For those who love the style, personality, and vibe of South of Fifth, there’s no need to worry about East Edgewater. The up and coming city has its perks for sure (like weekend chocolate festivals and some highly rated BBQ joints) but it just can’t do what SoFi has been doing for years, and we’re all okay with that.
